GIVEAWAY: Two Bottles of Extra Virgin, Raw Cod Liver Oil

I'm giving away two bottles of Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil!

Cod liver oil is a true superfood: this nutritional powerhouse provides Vitamins A and D, plus Omega 3's, DHA, and EPA.  Weston A. Price's studies showed that the diets of traditional people contained ten times the amounts of Vitamin A and D present in modern diets, and this higher nutrient-content was likely the reason that the people had robust health with virtually no cavities, heart disease, or cancer.

You probably already know that my family stopped taking fermented cod liver oil a couple years ago because it was giving us digestive issues. These digestive issues had something to do with the process of fermentation, which produced an oil that not only smelled bad and tasted bad, but obviously gave my family problems.

This new Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil (EVCLO) is made differently than the oh-so-popular fermented CLO. According to the EVCLO website, "Rosita EVCLO is real Norwegian cod liver oil that is fresh, raw & handcrafted from wild livers using a very rare ancient extraction technique which uses nature to separate the oil from its liver. No chemicals, solvents and mechanical devices are ever used during the extraction process. The oil is completely unrefined and produced under the total absence of heat, a process that protects its nutritional value."

EVCLO isn't for-sale on their website yet, but it is planned to be released for sale in the next few weeks. In the meantime, though, I have two bottles to give away to some lucky blog readers.

Because of shipping costs, this giveaway is only open to people who live in the continental United States.  There are three ways to enter this giveaway:
  • Leave a comment below including your location and your first and last name. Entries that do not include this information will be excluded from the drawing.*
  • Pin this giveaway on Pinterest and then leave another comment to let me know that you have done so.
  • Share this giveaway on Facebook, and then leave another comment to let me know that you have done so.
This giveaway will be closed to more entries on Saturday August 23rd. I will randomly select 2 winners on Sunday, August 24th.

*In one of my previous giveaways, multiple people claimed the same entry.  To prevent that from happening again, I am requiring people to include both their first and last name, as well as their location.

Links to Amazon are affiliate links. If you use these links, your price remains the same, but I earn a small commission. Affiliate Disclosure: As of May 2015, my family likes the extra virgin cod liver oil so much that I have signed up as an affiliate for EVCLO. The link to EVCLO above is an affiliate link.

I would love to try this as my husband and I have tried 2 different products this year; salmon oil and krill oil. They really messed with my hormones, bringing on acute hot flashes and flushes, and other female issues. My husband broke out in hives from both, though he has eaten shellfish and fish throughout his life and never had problems. Obviously the high concentration of astaxanthin put his tolerance over the top.

Thank you for this opportunity to try Rosita EVCLO.

I have been following EVCLO since your why we stopped taking FCLO post. We don't seem to have issues with FcLO, but I am curious to try something different. We did have 1 bottle of FCLO over the last four years that seemed a little different than the rest and we didn't tolerate it so well. Anyway, I'd love a chance to win and appreciate your research and thinking outside the box on so many different issues.

Interesting new brand to discover! While visiting our Naturopath yesterday though he explained that brands, like Carlson's, claiming "Norwegian" fish oil is not accurate. He said because their cod population has been so low and continues to decline despite the no fishing regulation for a couple years, they cannot accurately claim "Norwegian" cod because cod cannot be harvested there at this time. I haven't studied up on it myself yet.
He said something else quite interesting that I need to study on. He said fermented cod liver oil (FCLO) is not actually fermented. Said it used to be fermented in a vessel with something like sugar and I think he said alcohol (to separate from the sugar?). He said oil cannot, will not, ferment by itself, it must have a carbohydrate to cause it to ferment, otherwise it merely goes rancid. Apparently it is his opinion that Green Pastures does not use this method and that their CLO is not truly fermented. I will have to look into this because these statements do seem logical.
He said more importantly we need a combination of DHA, ALA, GLA and EPA oils in particular ratios and the FCLO only contains 2 of those oils. As we know we need more Omega 3 than 6, we also need those other 2 oils to make the first 2 work for us.
As a side note: we have a son with a throat clearing tic. The FCLO seemed to clear it up as long as he took a routine daily dose. But one bottle we got tasted and smelled rancid (was flavored cinnamon tingle too) and that bottle did nothing for his tic even when we doubled the dose.

Hi, I love your blog. We have little one on GAPS... though by now it's a bit modified. We take FCLO with just begun with FCLO and so far so good, but all the resources on your blog have been pretty much a life saver and I trust your judgment and all the info. you've shared on FCLO and EVCLO makes total sense.

Paula Alonso in Charlotte, NC. My son struggles with the taste of the fermented CLO, so I'm very interested in trying this to see if it will work for him. My daughter and I take the fermented oil with no problems, though. I guess we are all different! (I had tried to post before, but my post did not appear. Sorry if this is a repeat).
